Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov met with Ookla President and CEO Stephen Bayh, Chief Strategy Officer Chip Strange and Director of Sales for North Asia and Central Asia Victor Tseng at the Mobile World Congress "MWC Barcelona - 2025".
Ookla is a leading organization engaged in measuring and analyzing global internet speed, founded in 2006. It allows users around the world to check their internet speed using the Speedtest platform. The organization updates the global Speedtest index monthly, comparing mobile and wired internet speeds around the world. At the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the development of Internet infrastructure and strengthening quality control. At the meeting, Ookla noted that in recent years, Uzbekistan has managed to achieve a significant improvement in mobile internet speed.
Also during the meeting, representatives of the organization noted that according to the results of the Speedtest Global Index rating, Uzbekistan ranked 133rd in 2020, and as of January 2025, the country rose to 68th place in this rating, thus, Uzbekistan rose 65 positions since 2020.
