Ucell once again reaffirms its leadership in mobile internet speed in Uzbekistan. The international company OOKLA recognized Ucell as the best in internet speed for the third and fourth quarters of 2024.* Earlier, in July of last year, Ucell received the gold award for the fastest mobile internet based on the results of the first half of 2024.
Andrey Shishkovsky, CEO of LLC “COSCOM”, operating under trademark “Ucell”:
“This prestigious award is the result of remarkable investments in the development of Uzbekistan’s telecommunications industry and digital economy. In 2024 alone, direct investments amounted to 136 million USD. Over the past three years, Ucell has invested a total of 389 million USD. Every employee of the country’s largest mobile operator contributed to this achievement: from Nukus to Termez, from engineers and sales representatives to cashiers and contact center operators.”
Stephen Bye, President and CEO of OOKLA, a division of Ziff Davis:
"Winning the Speedtest Award for the fastest mobile internet twice in 2024 is an outstanding achievement. This prestigious award, representing the pinnacle of real-world network quality, proves Ucell’s unwavering commitment to delivering the fastest mobile network in Uzbekistan. Ucell’s consistent performance sets high-quality standards in the industry, and it is an honor for us to be part of this journey.”
Georgy Churavtsov, Commercial Director of Ucell:
“The number of active mobile communication users today exceeds 9.5 million subscribers, reflecting a high level of trust in Ucell. The company reciprocates this trust by offering convenient tariffs and modern smartphones. In 2024, Ucell introduced a new tariff line, “Katta Doimiy” where we doubled internet traffic across all areas and added additional 5G traffic without increasing subscription fees.”
Subscribers have access to a functional mobile application “Ucell”: users can not only pay for communication services but also for home internet and bank loans; it includes an autopayment feature and the ability to pay with international Visa and MasterCard cards. Through the app, subscribers can also connect additional numbers or activate eSIMs.
In 2024, Ucell launched 9,490 new logical base stations into commercial operation, including 745 fifth-generation (5G) mobile network stations. For example, in the Fergana Valley, 87% of settlements are now equipped with 5G networks. Over the past year, 814 base stations in the Valley were upgraded.
The company also built its own backbone communication lines connecting Tashkent with the largest cities in the Fergana Valley, as well as in the Syrdarya, Jizzakh, Samarkand, Navoi, Bukhara, and Kashkadarya regions. This infrastructure supports the growing data transmission needs of Ucell subscribers.
Thanks to these efforts, users in even the most remote regions of the country now have access to quality communication and high-speed internet.
Jaloliddin Boikulov, Team Leader, Integrated Solutions Group:
“Ucell is implementing yet another ambitious project to provide high-quality communication in the Tashkent Metro. As of today, 31 underground metro stations are covered not only by 3G/4G networks but also by 5G, enabling users to experience high-speed internet even underground. With coordinated efforts and support from the Metro Administration, we managed to complete the planned work in record time.
In 2024, over 1,700 kilometers of backbone, zonal, and urban fiber-optic communication lines (FOCL) were constructed. Additionally, more than 300 spans of radio relay communication lines were upgraded.”
Ucell invests not only in cutting-edge technologies but also places a strong emphasis on training and developing its employees, recognizing them as the key link in delivering high-quality service. The company actively pursues its strategy of modernizing and expanding its network of retail outlets, allowing it to stay closer to its subscribers and provide top-notch services.
The mobile operator is diligently working on developing the country’s mobile infrastructure, ensuring reliable communication for its large subscriber base. As a technological leader, Ucell aims to play a pivotal role in the development of telecommunications in Uzbekistan. The company continues to build and upgrade base stations, expanding 5G mobile network coverage.
Ucell’s mission: “Providing simple, affordable, and reliable services—we work with people and for people.”
