Frequently asked questions

Roaming is a service that allows you to use Ucell communications in any country in the world. Each country has basic conditions that will automatically apply when you use a connection abroad. The fee for basic conditions depends on the country and is charged according to the zonal charging in roaming.
If the basic conditions are not suitable, you can find advantageous alternatives.

Ucell offers two types of “Roaming - Online” service (*155#):

• “Worldwide roaming without border countries” (Camel Not Full Roaming) – is roaming in all Camel roaming partners of Ucell excluding bordering to Uzbekistan countries (Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan). If you are often located in near border area it is recommended to activate this roaming in order to avoid unauthorized activation of roaming in the border areas of Uzbekistan. This type of roaming is activated by default to all Prepaid subscribers.
• “Worldwide roaming” (Camel Full Roaming) – it is roaming in all Camel roaming partners of Ucell including bordering to Uzbekistan countries.
Activation and subscription fee is 0 UZS.

Activation, deactivation and roaming status is available only in active status through the following service channels:

• Ucell service offices;
• Call center: 8123 or 8111;
• MY CABINET;
• USSD-request: *155#
• Ucell mobile app.

*For corporate subscribers, in order to activate the roaming service, it is necessary to apply with a written application to the Ucell service offices in the Corporate customer service department.

If you failed to activate roaming and arrived to another country, then your number will not be registered in the networks of roaming partners, that is, the antenna of your mobile device or smartphone will not come out. This means that it will be impossible to make outgoing or incoming calls, exchange SMS messages, the Internet and USSD requests will also not work. In this case, you can call Ucell round-the-clock call center (+998931800000 or +998931810000) from another number. In this case, you must complete the identification according to your passport data.

If it is not possible to call, then you need to find a free WI-Fi zone in the country of residence and connect via your smartphone to Wi-Fi and write us to. We will definitely connect with you. In this case, you must complete the identification according to your passport data.

In order to avoid difficulties with communication while traveling, we strongly recommend you to check the status of roaming before traveling to other countries and if the service is not connected, then connect it on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

We do not have our own towers abroad, so we rent a network from local operators. Mobile communications abroad are more expensive than in Uzbekistan. For example, a local resident in Greece will pay € 30 for 10 GB of Internet. Because of this, the cost of renting a network is high, and roaming rates are more expensive than home calls. But we are trying to make communication abroad more accessible.

When roaming, phone numbers must be dialed in the international format: + [country code] [city code] [phone number]

For example, to make a call or send an SMS:

• From networks of a roaming operator to Uzbekistan: +998 (city/operator code) (subscriber number)
• To Ucell subscriber number: +998 93 (subscriber number) or +998 94 (subscriber number)
• To an international number: +(country code) (city⁄operator code) (subscriber number)

When you use Ucell SIM card abroad:

• You stay in touch with your number, that is your friends, colleagues and relatives can call you on the usual number and pay as usual;
• You do not need to rearrange and change SIM cards;
• All information about roaming conditions, balance and remaining packages is available on the website ucell.uz in three languages (Uzbek, Russian and English);
• Roaming is available with any positive balance and billing is carried out in real time;
• You have the highest quality of communication available, since we work with several local operators at once;
• You can replenish your account in a timely manner through any payment services or platforms that are available in Uzbekistan with an active Internet session in roaming;
• You can check your balance in real time.

Some smartphones continue to use internet traffic even if mobile data is turned off in the settings. This happens due to the specifics of 5G/4G networks – for example, the phone may automatically update apps or exchange service data with the network. As a result, unexpected charges may occur.

How to prevent extra expenses?

✅ Activate a roaming package for the desired country – this will allow you to use the internet at a fixed rate.

✅ Limit the network type in your phone settings by selecting 3G or 2G – these technologies do not use hidden traffic like 4G and 5G. By configuring these settings in advance, you can avoid unexpected charges and control your mobile internet usage while traveling.

In new smartphone models, the “Wi-Fi Help” function has appeared, which consumes mobile Internet even when data transfer is turned off, if the Wi-Fi connection is unstable. Usually Wi-Fi Assistance is enabled by default. In order not to spend too much, disable this feature:
Apple: Settings → Cellular → at the bottom of the screen – Wi-Fi Help → Turn off;
Samsung: Settings → Connections → Other settings → Network booster → Turn off;
or Settings → Connections → Wi-Fi → Advanced (by the three dots icon at the top of the screen) → Intelligent Wi-Fi → Turn off;
Huawei: Settings → Wireless networks → Wi-Fi → Wi-Fi+ → Turn off;
Xiaomi: Settings → Wireless networks → Wi-Fi → Advanced settings → Wi-Fi assistant → Turn off.

You can turn on the Internet saving mode for applications:
Apple: Settings → Cellular → Data Options → Data Saver → Enable;
Samsung: Settings → Connections → Data usage → Data saving → Enable;
Huawei: Settings → Wireless networks → Traffic statistics → Smart data saver → Enable;
Xiaomi: Applications in the background are automatically limited.

First of all, make sure that your mobile phone is correctly configured for the network of one of Ucell's roaming partners. If your device cannot automatically tune in to the roaming partner's network, be sure to restart your smartphone first. If it doesn't help you will have to do it manually. How to do this is detailed in the manual for your mobile phone, or in the menu of your device.
You can also choose another network:
Apple: Settings → Cellular → Network selection → Automatic → Turn off → Select another network from the list;
Samsung: Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → Network operators → Select the SIM card you want to set up → Search for networks → Select another network from the list;
Huawei: Settings → Wireless networks → Mobile network → Select the SIM card to set up → Operator → Auto → Power off → Select another network from the list;
Xiaomi: Settings → Wireless networks → SIM cards and mobile networks → SIM settings → Mobile networks → Select another network from the list.

First, be sure to restart your smartphone. If it doesn’t help, then you need to check the Internet settings of your smartphone, access point (APN): Internet

Apple: Settings → Cellular → Network selection → Automatic → Turn off → Select another network from the list;
Samsung: Settings → Connections → Mobile networks → Network operators → Select the SIM card you want to set up → Search for networks → Select another network from the list;

If you live near the borders of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, your device can automatically connect to the network of operators in these countries. To reduce the probability of automatic registration of the phone in the network of a foreign operator and, accordingly, the charging of calls at roaming rates, we recommend choosing the Ucell network in manual mode and always pay attention to the name of the operator displayed on the phone display. To avoid unexpected expenses in the border area, you can disable roaming by dialing the code *155#. To activate the roaming service, dial *155#
